Episode 4: Penny Lawson

In episode four of season three, I chat with Penny Lawson, self-diagnosed curd nerd, and owner of Potts Point’s favourite fromagerie, Penny’s Cheese Shop. Like any good cheese, Penny’s style is a recipe of simple ingredients with signature flavours that offer a little bit of bite while evoking the wholehearted country goodness of where they hail from. And while she’s travelled far and wide and her signature style includes French Breton stripes and Kansas-connotative red shoes, Penny is a proud proponent of Australia and its produce and proves it’s her style to ensure there’s no place like home.

These days Penny takes a more practical approach to her wardrobe, however, I’ve given her uniform staples a flavour of fun with a Lee Matthews apron dress, paired back to signature red sandals from Twoobs and defining stripes from a POL t-shirt sourced from the Wayside Chapel Op Shop.

I was definitely the youngest and the only girl in amongst the team full of sporty lads. Most of my family holidays were on a farm in Central Western Victoria...I always found a dog or a puppy to mother, trying to be a girl amongst these rough and tumble boys.

All the girls at school were listening to Take That and I had no interest in that. I was into Smashing Pumpkins and The Cure. I was that rock chic so that was kind of my style in high school.
