Episode 5: Katie McGrath

In the finale of season 5, I chat with Katie McGrath, Chief People & Culture Officer with Seven West Media and author of her own true story, Deadly Earth. I read Katie’s book before we met and to be honest it struck such a strong emotional chord with me that I just wanted to make a human connection more than I had a desire to establish her relationship to style. We do still touch on fashion and Katie’s fearless style but this is a story of a strong, passionate woman whose shown grace in her quest for truth, identity and legacy. As our country faces it’s own trials, Katie’s story is a timely reminder of resilience and the power of the human spirit.

Katie may be known for her fearless disposition and her fierce taste in fashion, but I wanted to show Katie in the same generously open and vulnerable light in which she is able to offer her story. As such I have dressed her in a delicate, smoky blue georgette dress from Shona Joy and some fine vintage jewellery from my collection.

Being a child your sense of self and self esteem is built through your mum and dad …you just don’t know until it’s taken away that that is how your identity is created so I really did grow up having no idea who the hell I was.

I love fashion but I’m not a slave to it and it’s probably not as big a deal in my life as it would be if I had more time and ability to indulge it. I live a hard and intense life, I always have and I probably always will.
