Episode 6: Sheldon Riley
In episode six, I chat with Sheldon Riley, singer/songwriter best known as two time contestant of The Voice, Australia. When I first styled Sheldon for a performance, he described his fashion direction as dark and somewhat gothic and in keeping with this quotes Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black album as one of his early style influences.
“You hear about the story of the little kid sneaking out and watching Project Runway and reading Vogue magazines in the dark - that was me.”
“I was really quiet as a kid, strangely quiet. I didn’t have much personality to the outside world, my family have always been my best friends because they’re the only ones I ever felt comfortable around.”
Styling
Sheldon has an ability to pleasantly surprise an audience and opted out of all-black for our shoot. Instead he is styled in a pastel tie-dyed jacket and shorts set. I still had to give him a dark edge though so this look has been paired with chunky boots, and a vintage rock tee of course!
“It was all these fashion and music icons that inspired me - Elton John, Adam Lambert, Cher, Cyndi Lauper - these characters really shaped my music and my fashion.”
Shop
