Episode 6: Silvia Colloca

In the season finale of season two, I chat with Silvia Colloca, Italian born food writer, TV producer, and host. Silvia comes with an impressive cache of creative titles, which also include opera singer and actress, however, her recipe for self-expression is simple and like her cooking aims to honour the core ingredients. Silvia was raised in Milan, but it’s her more humble Abruzzo roots that define her understated sensuality, her serious humour, and her unadorned passion. And it’s this delicious mix of contrasting ingredients that makes Silvia’s style so intriguing and so enticing.

If I want to compare it (my style) to my cooking, my cooking is very simple and it’s all based around essential ingredients and simple techniques and just putting very few things together that go so well together and that you don’t have to add anything to disguise what’s there.

Styling

While Silvia likes to keep things simple, I wanted to throw light onto her star qualities and have styled her in a Camilla blouse with celestial signifiers and a reclaimed sequin skirt from Aje.

Full Outfit: Camilla blouse, Reclaimed Aje sequin skirt.

(Nonna’s) cooking was so simple, like unadorned, just slopped on the plate with no micro herbs, no fancy anything, no edible flowers, no foams. What you see is what you get but what you get is like a cuddle from heaven.
